![]() He was impressed with this idea and said he talked to the engineers who also liked it. The support person replied and downloaded the free Neat Image to try it out. ![]() See the link above for more info and screenshots. I sent a message to Topaz months ago suggesting that they provide a simple optimization button like Neat Image has that will run a short test to find out exactly which GPU or combination is fastest. It has a nice feature where it can test your computer to find the fastest way to process using the GPU and/or the CPU. NR is generally not as good as DXO and Topaz though. Another option is Neat Image - the free standalone version will only save high quality JPEG files, but the paid version can save TIFFs too. If they don't have a GPU that meets their minimum specs (and minimum spec GPUs will still be slow) then they will have to use the CPU. That means both DXO DeepPrime and Topaz Denoise AI will be pretty slow. You don't give specifics about CPU and GPU, but it sounds like those are both pretty old. Based on my hardware above and scenario, any recommendations as to which one makes more sense? I also have a feeling i will have to upgrade at least one of the computers to do proper PP based on ever increasing software requirements. I am pretty savvy with computers and software apps so the complexity of either platform i can work through, albeit with PhotoLab5 i will definitely likely be learning a bit more as it does more. I have heard both pros and cons around the performance of each of the platforms. I tried downloading Topaz on my mac, and it seems to perform ok have not tried DXO yet but trying to see how that one works. I recognize Topaz does not do the editing per se and will have to get something else to augment. noise reduction, minor image corrections. I suspect I would not upgrade often, as i have purpose built workflow that i am looking for: e.g. Both seem to have limited upgradeability and eventually require you to pay again if you want the next version. ![]() I can see the cost of software being a factor. IF I do not have to shoot RAW that would be great, else would have considered PureRAW as well. I don't want to purchase lightroom etc so looking at the DXO Photolab5 product. Lightroom etc so have looked at these two options: I have progressed enough that the extra bit of noise i see in photos bugs me a bit and wanted to explore what i can do with Post processing software. I have always shot JPG as i generally wanted SOOC vs Post Processing. I do print photos typically in std 4圆, but also go up to 8x10 for particularly interesting photos. Also like taking the odd portrait type photo or just shots of the family etc. Can be for shooting smaller animals, birds, but also flowers, plants, bugs etc. Shooting in some sub optimal outdoors scenarios where it feels like i need to go to ISO 3200 or heaven forbid ISO6400. Primarily JPG but if I have to shift to RAW will consider it. Also shoot the old 50mm Olympus macro with adapter Old HP Elite x2 1012 G2 w 8GB RAM and stock 256GB SSD WIndows 10Į-M5 Mark III, with numerous zooms including 12-100 and 100-400. Old 2013 Macbook Air with 8GB RAM & 512GB SSD(NVME Samsung) OSX Big Sur Here we go, hopefully my specifics will help isolate the options a bit.
